Murrua Residence

Classical proportions, a contemporary interior.

The project

Ordered and formal to the street. Warm, layered and quietly detailed inside.

Murrua Residence combines classical proportions with a contemporary interior palette. A tall entrance portico, layered cornices and dark-framed windows give the façade a strong, ordered presence. Inside, herringbone flooring and wall panelling provide warmth and rhythm, complemented by dark joinery and pale veined surfaces. Arched glazing, finely patterned stair balustrades and integrated lighting carry this attention to detail through the interior.

The contrast between the ordered street elevation and the warmer interior is easiest to see by comparing the entrance portico with the oak floors and joinery inside. The gallery follows the house from the street through to the pool.
